Trouble connecting to Verizon network.

Hello, I am new here and glad to see so many knowledgable people on the forum. My iPad has trouble connecting to Verizon network. I have tried resetting, rebooting and every other thing the Verizon 1-800 tech told me to do. I went to the store where the manager replaced the SIM card and again tried all the tricks. They said they will replace it under warranty so I guess problem will be solved for me. Still, I would like to know, if I could, what the heck happened?
 
Unless the replacement iPad has the same problems I'd write it up to an iPad with a weak cellular radio or antenna. Doesn't matter how good quality control is, there are always a few defective devices that make it into customer's hands.
