Ummm...a little help?

Soo...I was watching a movie on my two-week old iPad, and my friend went to go turn on the captions, and she kind of dropped it facedown onto concrete. I just stood there, mouth wide open, for about ten seconds. It had never been dropped before, and I had spent every waking moment with it ever since I got it. When I finally got around to picking it up, there was one long crack diagonally from left corner to bottom right corner. I thought to myself, "Well, it isn't too bad." then, I saw the bottom right half of the screen over the digitizer. It is completely shattered! the screen still works, but, as a teenage girl, I'm more than a little vain, and I have a bunch of little siblings that like to touch stuff, especially broken glass. So I went online and looked up the glass replacement, and it was like $130! That's ridiculous! the touch screen still works and nothing else is hurt, save for a small dent in the upper right corner in the metal.

So, I guess my question is, Does anyone know a cheaper way to replace the glass on my iPad? I'm kind of tight on money, being a babysitter and all. I really need some help.

P.s. I still have almost a year left on the warranty, and I have insurance on it, but I can't find the paperwork anywhere. Besides, I don't think either of them covers screen damage.:( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Your friend should pay either insurance excess or cost of replacement.

I wish I had friends like you. In her position, I would be running for the nearest Apple store to get it fixed for you.

$130 seems reasonable, after some of the figures I've seen bandied about. At risk of starting another "I got a cracked screen" thread (we've already got a massive one) take it to the Apple store, tell them what happened, and see what they can do. They may be able to do it cheaper if you ask nicely, who knows?

I would contact the company since you still have a warranty on it. They may have your name already in the system or they may go by the serial number of the iPad. Worth a shot!!

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

There are places on the net which will fix it but this may void your warranty, go to Apple and see what they can do for you. If I broke a friends iPad I would have to replace it or have it fixed for her.
