Upgraded my iPad and tried to save $100

today i took the plunge and bought an ipad2. i figured i could save some money and get the 16GB version since on my 32GB i'm only using about 10GB. big mistake!

for some reason, those 10GB left me with only 1GB of space left and that's after i deleted a few gigs ofa apps. WTH used up all that space. the orig ipad said i had 29Gb to use with 19GB free, so that means i had 9GB of stuff. but on the ipad 2 that 10Gb of stuff blew up to 13Gb - going from the ipad saying i had 14Gb available fresh. either something is going reaaaaly weird with my sync or something blows up big time when moving it to the ipad 2.

i went back and exchanged it for the 32Gb and synced again. the same thing's happening. i'm guessing the iMovie, camera, and facetime must be using "app" space as the app space on the 1g ipad is ~7GB where the ipad 2 is 10.5Gb.

so, just something to keep in consideration when upgrading to an iPad 2.

just a bit more digging, the difference is only 2Gb... seems there was a movie still in buzzplayer sync that i deleted after my earlier sync today.

Always always buy largest capacity storage and fastest processor with computers.

Don't store movies on your iPad, put them on your 500 gig Airstash.

In iTunes see what space is being taken up by the 'Other' category. It seems as though a lot of iPads have miscellaneous data sitting here and it can pay to get rid of it.
