Video dissapears when closing iTunes

I added a video file via iTunes (File/add file to library) and it copied it and I can see it on my iPad but as soon as I shut down iTunes on my computer, that video file disappears.
I can copy it to Goodreader but for some reason, the ratio is a bit messed up (not that it really matters) but what do I have to do to keep the file on my ipad when closing iTunes?

I was able to get the video to 'stick' by using DiskAid. Still, iTunes should have worked.
