f4780y Super Moderator Staff member Apr 9, 2012 #2 Any iPad charger should be fine, you don't need to stick to the "3" one (I have all 3 and use all 3 for different devices). If you use an iPhone charger you will find it charges much slower, and in some cases it may not fully charge the iPad at all.

From what I understand, all models use the same specification charger, i.e. 10W. The iPad3 one is not special AFAIK.
