I thought there was a button which when clicked, would take me to all of my posts, but I can't find it, using either ipad or laptop (as versions vary a bit).

Usually your posts can be found in your watched thread, unless you unwatch them.
To get there, tap "Watched Threads" here:

If you've already seen all of them, you'll find this screen next:

Tap "Show all watched threads" to access them.

Oh, that surprised me, I suppose because elsewhere, I'm sure there are buttons that say "subscribed to posts", so you know that if you've subscribed, whether anyone has responded or not, it takes you there. I'll just have to remember "watched threads" then. thanks

Now this is good, I'm making progress. Having just come in from painting my shark (don't ask), I came to this site. Normally I would hit the alerts button, but didn't. I hiot Watched Posts, and that was wrong, this hit Watched Threads, and there were my recent posts, So at least I know now.

But, given that I have made posts elsewhere in this forum,is it too much to ask why they didn't appear?

When you select "Watched Threads", only those will appear where you haven't read everything so far. If you want to see all of your posts and threads, you have to select "Show all ..." (See my second screenshot).

There's another way to take a look at your posts only:
Below your avatar, you see your joining date, and the next entry is "Messages". When you tap the number next to it, you'll be taken to a page with your posts listed. Here's where you have to tap:
