Which Ipad?

Hi all I'm new to the forum and yet to purchase my first Ipad. I will need a 3G one as I'm going to living away for work for 6 months and not bothering with a phoneline.

I'm not really sure what size to get. I have a small laptop with about 75gb which is pretty full and is having niggly problems, an 8gb iPod nano and an 8gb iPhone 3G. I only really want the ipad for browsing and occasional streaming, and I would like a kind of word and excel programme. But if my laptop goes caput then maybe I would need to put all my music on it. Money is an issue but I will pay a bit more if it's really worth it.

Any advice is much appreciated.

Hi Roddy and welcome to the forum! :)

I bought a 32GB Wi-Fi - not planning to download a lot of music (have that on my iPod Touch) nor videos, so that size seems fine w/ me; also, when taking this device 'on the road' most of the places we visit offer Wi-Fi (faster than 3G), so unless you need a connection where Wi-Fi is not available, then the extra cost of 3G was not important to me, but a consideration for your needs!

Apps for the iPad that simulate the Word Office programs include Pages (Word), Numbers (Excel), and Keynote (PowerPoint) - the files are exchangeable - I've only download Pages & Keynote - the features are not as complete as the Office programs but worth a look if you are interested in duplicating those features - good luck in your choices!
