Which OS from info on the box

I thought I remember a post that stated you could tell which OS was loaded on an iPad from some info on the outside of the box? Is this true? I want an iPad with 3.2.2, not 4.2. The people at Walmart stated that their iPads were shipped 3 weeks ago.

I'm sorry for the confusion. In this scenario, I'm in the store - haven't bought it yet. The iPad is still in the box and shrink wrapped. I thought there was a code in the serial number or some other number on the box that led to when this was on the assembly line or gave info about the OS.

Don't believe all the rubbish on the net.
4.2 is an excellent up grade and easy to do.
It really does improve the usage of the iPad.

That said it's likely the store one is the older version, but the upgrade is very straight forward.
