Which OS supports Jailbreak?

I m getting my ipad from HK soon, may i ask what OS supports Jailbreak? dun wanna buy and end up can't install 3rd party apps.

All pre 4.2 iOS on iPad is jailbreakable through lime rain. Also 4.2 has been jbed but it won't be released until the public release of 4.2, so apple can't patch the exploit.
