Why is my past info in the Calender app disappearing?

I have an iPad2. Anything I enter into my Calendar (the app that came with the iPad) disappears after a couple months. This has happened when I perform a 'backup' and it has happened BEFORE I perform a 'backup'.
Why won't my info stay?
Where did it go?
Can I get it back?

Hi! Welcome to iPF!

Go to Settings - Mail/Contacts/Calendar - Sync. There you can sync past events.

Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Sync > All Events

Do you have All Events selected? Otherwise, events will disappear after a set time. I have All Events selected and can see my events going back for years.
