Hello,

Have iPad 2 Mini here still with its stock iOS 10.

I don't want to upgrade to iOS 11 due to performance concerns
because I heard that iOS 11 is more taxing than iOS 10 however
I am worrying I will miss upgrades train and will stay on iOS 10 forever.

Should I be concerned?

Should I upgrade to iOS 11 and if yes, then is current version stable
and not as taxing as other previous iOS 11 versions?

Thanks for advice.

It's less than a month until the public release of iOS 12. If you decide to update to iOS 11, you'll almost certainly have 4 weeks or so to update. BTW, any device that can be updated to iOS 11 can be updated to iOS 12.

The current version is 11.4.1, it’s stable. If you stay on iOS 10, you’ll also miss a few important security updates. 11.2.2 was a security update addressing Meltdown and Spectre cyber attacks, e.g.

I believe that all iPads should be on the latest iOS it’s just a safe thing to do if the iPad model allows you to do that.
