Hi all.

I have just got my new iPad (iPad 3)
Really loving it.
But there is someone that is making me crazy.
When ever I try to play a YouTube video for most of them it says that the video is not available, even for those that I regularly play on my laptop.
There are only very few videos that I am able to play on iPad.

What is the problem? What is the solution???

I am guessing that this is because these videos might be flash based and iPad only plays html5.
Is there any true plugin for iPad so that I can play flash?
I mean a proper plugin, not some streaming browser type thing...

I have heard of Frash but I think it is obsolete now... If I jailbreak the iPad can I get any better solution to solve this YouTube not playing problem?

Really appreciate your help

What's the solution ? There has to be one

If that's the case the android tablets are way better then iPad....
At least I can watch all the videos on it...plus I can get all the apps for free without doing any jailbreak/rooting...

I believe YouTube are slowly moving their clips over to the more compliant format. Newer popular ones are automatically added in the new format, it is the older ones that may take some time to have converted over.

Flash video is dying off, websites are slowly moving across to the newer format that will be universal for all devices. It is just that Apple appear to be ahead of the trend :)

Now websites still using WMV now that's annoying!

I agree...it's always better to use things how they are meant to be used.

Jailbreaking, while good for somethings, will not give you any more Flash options that you can get through the Apps Store (correct me if I'm wrong JB community, please).

Here is most of the info you might need on Flash.

There are so many threads beating the Flash issue to death that you're likely to see this thread closed if it becomes all about Flash.

Some YouTube videos are not available because they are still Flash. Many others are not available because the person posting did not make it available to mobile devices.

I also find the m.youtube.com site more useful than the YouTube app on the iPad. You may have more luck there.

At the bottom of the mobile site there is a link to the desktop site. It's has some quirks in Safari, but it's mostly usable. I wish they would provide a link back to the mobile site; but they don't. You can force your way back by entering the mobile sites URL manually.

It often depends on what videos you are looking for. Certain types of videos tend to be created and posted by communities with the same standards, equipment, etc. If you like one category of videos you might spend days before finding one that's not available on the iPad. In other's you'll be lucky to find anything at all.

Edit: Hmm, somehow managed to miss reading the lsat post before I started typing my reply; so I'm a bit redundant today; but that's not all a bad thing. ;)

Thanx guys

I have just found this app called puffin. It is the best flash browser I have found so far....
The video rendering is amazing...

I have used skyfire and iswifter. But puffin is by far the best

Finally am able to watch all the YouTube videos :)
