Zagg Portfolio + Keyboard not working

i dont know if its the charger or the keyboard itself but i recently tried to use the keyboard and no response and no lights... i thought it was just out of juice but no lights come up when i charge it.. maybe i am not charging it properly?? the charger works when i plug in my phone but other than that i plug in a mircro usb into the keyboard and out onto a wall charger.. Thanks
