Problem: can't delete an edited album.

In one place it says to "tap edit and then - sign in circle but no trash can or minus sign in circle appears.

In another place it says about deleting "(unless the photo has been edited, captioned, tagged as a favorite, or used in a journal}

My photo has been edited and tagged. So how do I get rid of it?

I've even tried finding the photo on my MacBook but it isn't there.

Is there some way to find a photo library on the iPad?

Talk about frustration!!!!!!!

All help VERY MUCH appreciated. Thanks. Berengaria

If the photo and/or album was added using iTunes from a computer, it can only be removed through iTunes.

iOS and iPod: Syncing photos using iTunes

If the album was created on the iPad you should be able to delete it. Try the common fixes below and see if they help.

-------------------------------

When you have problems with an app it's a good idea to clear it from RAM.

Close/Clear the app: With the problem app closed, double tap on the Home button to get the multitask bar. Tap and hold on any icon in the bar until they jiggle, then tap the minus sign on the problem app. This will remove it from RAM and insure a clean start the next time you launch the app.

If that does not work try a restart,

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends you restart the iPad at least once a month.

and then a reset if that does not work.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

Thanks Twerppoet, for your suggestions. None of them made any difference so I simply discarded iPhoto completely on the iPad and will use the MacBook for that exclusively. Much simpler for me. I can always put a photo in Photo Stream if I want to see it in retina display.

Thanks again.

I'm sorry. I though we were talking about the Photos app. Entirely my mistake. Lazy reading.

You can not manage your photos in iPhoto. You go back to the Photos app to delete photos and albums. The information I supplied is correct for that task.

I created a new photo album, but spelt it incorrectly. How do I edit the album name?

G' day JornRJ, as twerppoet indicated above, if the album was copied to your iPad via sync from your computer you need to correct the name on your computer and recync again. Albums that you create directly on the iPad can't have their names changed once created, unless you delete them and then re-create them.
