Voice actived

Hi there! What kind of voice activated app are you looking for?

Have you looked at your acessibility features on your iPad, including Voice over for members who have visual impairment? A wonderfully detailed Tutorial was created by our Super Moderator, Gabriel1, regarding the Voice over settings. See this link:

http://www.ipadforums.net/help-ipad...2320-how-guide-using-voiceover-ios-5-1-a.html

See if that helps you!

Moving this to Special Needs Forum: Apps for special need users.

If you have not done so, please take a look at the iOS 5.0 and 5.1:
iTunes - Books - iPad User Guide for iOS 5 by Apple Inc.
iTunes - Books - iPad User Guide for iOS 5.1 by Apple Inc.

Finally, please read the rules!

Thanks for getting back to me .. I am looking for the app that gives you a virtual personal assistant like you can get on the phones Siri. Isn't there one for the iPad?

Hi ebettum--see this thread for Siri on iPad: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-hacking/69681-ipad-2-how-get-siri-working.html

It looks like you will need to be jail broken to install this. There's also another app called Evi for $.99 at the AppStore. See this thread: http://www.ipadforums.net/apple-ipad-news/62126-evi-good-siri.html

You can also look at voiceso dictation: http://www.ipadforums.net/ipad-3-forum/66702-voiceso-dictation-not-siri.html
This will type what you dictate which is useful if you don't want to

Hope this helps you.

Hello
I'm new here but I work with students with special needs - particularly learning difficulties but also visual impairment and mobility issues.

Dragon Dictate for iPad is a great, free voice recognition program. The full and more sophisticated versions for pc and mac are also available. Dragon has been around a long time and is the best voice recognition program on the market. The iPad version is remarkably good but not perfect. It does, however, get better with use. Only for dictation though and not for navigating your iPad.

If you need text read out loud there are various ones on the market. Claro Speak is new to the apps market but its desktop versions are brilliant. I've just tested the iPad one and it's impressive. Not free but worth having if you need help in this area.

There are also a ton of programs aimed at the student and business market which solve lots of learning support needs. Good Reader, Easy Bib, Ever Note and Article Search to name a few.

Hope this helps you or somebody else! I'll try to update this special needs forum as I learn of new Assisstive Technology for iPad.

Best wishes
Suzie

Hi suziegirl!

Thank you for your post. It is very informative regarding Dragon Dictation. I haven't used it in our practice, but have Occupational Therapists that really like using it for their own patients.

Would love to hear more from you as you gather additional information. We are so pleased to have this Special Needs and Health Forum created here, as we feel that this will be of great help to many of our members/guests here!

Thank you, again! :)
