1st time sync of ipad 3g?

I'm looking forward to my first sync this afternoon. One question. When you plug it in for the first time will it prompt you to select manual sync or automatic sync? I need to do it manually given all my data (when will they come out with a 128gb model!!!). Or will it start to sync automatically and you need to cancel it? Also, does the ipad sync identically to a iphone so all the menus, etc are the same such as setting up apps and being provided pages?

You can go to Itunes now, then preferences/devices and you will see a place to put a check mark preventing auto sync. You don't have to have a device hooked up.
