Has anyone used this, or know if this can be used for document storage for the iPad to access? Example Office documents on the hard drive that I can access with Quick Office, Pages, Keynote on the iPad. I know it will store video and pic's. I guess the question is can you access or only transfer files?

It doesn't do any more than an SD card will with the Camera Connection Kit. It just provides more space for the same ability to transfer pictures and video. And even then it only works with 32GB partitions. You switch between them on the device.

The two biggest advantages of this device are that it will allow you to cary a ton of video and pictures, ready to load as needed, and that you can directly load video and pictures to the device from your camera.

You can probably do a lot more with it if you Jailbreak, but I'm not sure.

I spent quite a bit of time with this last fall. The most flexibility was with a jailbroken iPad, but the most recent release of 4.2.1 has still not been jailbroken to give untethered control. Keeping up with jailbreak and iOS versions was too much of a hassle for me.

I tried a device which connected a SD card to the iPad but it proved unacceptably slow. I'm moving my iPad over to home theater control and just bought a 11" Mac Air.

There is a device which connects to the iPad. It has a hard drive up to 1 GB but you can only go from it to the iPad. You load images from a digital camera onto it. I'm a photographer and wanted to save the images to an outside storage device and be able to review images in the iPad. On a two week trip I easily go over 64gb, plus I wanted redundancy.

The Mac Air permits me to take two small laptop drives in USB containers for optimum storage.

Thanks for the info, i was looking to have access to Doc's besides Dropbox, Box ect. While on the go!

A NAS is a better option as it can be accessed from anywhere on the web. It sits with my router and contains any file I wish to be shared between my computers. If 1TB is not enough I can add a USB drive to it...
