A new IPad 2 user with Windows Messenger connect problems

Hi,

I'm a fairly new Apple IPad 2 user and I'm still using my pc too. I'm having trouble getting my IPad 2 to connect to Windows Messenger. It installs and opens up ok but when I try to connect I get the message "connecting to messenger" and it never connects !! I'm connected to my home wireless network and I'm wondering if there is something in my settings that needs to be changed. Any assistance would be appreciated.
