Accepting calendar (.ics) from airline web sites

When booking a flight, the airline web site offers you an option to "add to calendar". It's a choice of Outlook or .ics. When selected it brings up a .ics icon, but the iPad doesn't do anything with it. Selecting the icon produces no feedback whatsoever.

Help!

The iPad does not have a standard app that will read .ics files. There are some apps in the App Store that will. I have no experience with them, so I won't make recommendations. Search for "ics calendar".

Don't overlook the iPhone apps. While they won't look as good on the iPad, they should work. I noticed one (the cheapest that looked like it might work) called Calendar Happy. It says it will import ics files to the standard Calendar app. This may be all you need/want.

Good to hear from you. You’ll find a whole bunch of iPad enthusiasts in this Forum who are only too willing to help other iPad owners and to hear of their experiences. Don’t be afraid to post any questions you may have or use the ‘Search’ button near the top of the Forum web page. I usually find I discover one new interesting and useful piece of information about my iPad every day - and often not even what I was looking for!!

Hope to hear from you soon with your thoughts about the iPad.

Have fun and enjoy your iPad

If you don’t already have it you can download a copy of the iPad manual for free.

The Calendar Happy app worked just fine. I had to book a flight this morning and was quite pleased with the results. Thanks so much for the help.

Does anyone know how to add words to the dictionary? I use a lot of industry acronyms and being able to add them as "auto text" would be very helpful.

Thanks for the community support.

There is an app called AutoCorrector. Read the description before deciding if it will do what you want. It uses the common trick of adding words to the last name of a Contact, but for 99 cents it might be worth it for the improved interface.
