After installing iso5 I am having problems syncs

Hi everbodythis is my first post .
I have been using apple for a number of years and have always been in pressed how it just always works.
But since I have installed iOS 5 to my iPad 1 I cannot get it to syncs to iTunes on my pc it keeps saying that the USB plug in to pc is faulty . My iPhone has no problem syncs with same USB any help would be must appreciate .

Is your iPhone also on iOS5? Do you have the latest version of iTunes?
