Skool got a grant, has assigned each student, 6-7-8, an iPad. I moved from HS art to MS art this yr; they are all clamoring for art projects on teh iPad, so skool assigned me one. I really like the free draw aspect of touch screen; I'm a graphic designer/illustrator by nature, and quite 'precise,'i.e.,controlled. I have "painted" more in these last few months than ever before. The 'casual' nature of painting on the iPad is a nice contrast to teh Pixelmator and Inkscape we have @ skool.
That ol' chestnut of an art project/lesson, reinterpret VanGogh's 'Starry Night' has taken on a new life with technology. My collegue, and contemporary [we are both 25 yrs in district] scoffs- she's missing out by being old skool. "Welcome to the Future, Marty!"
