MacRumors reports today on a DigiTimes story that says that according to its industry source in Taiwan, Apple is in the process of signing up a second iPad manufacturing partner to work alongside Foxconn, possibly to help with production of the updated models that are rumoured to be planned for the end of the year. DigiTimes says that Taiwan-based Quanta Computer and Pegatron Technology are two of the main contenders to join Foxconn, with Pegatron being the favourites to land the contract, apparently. Pegatron has also recently been rumoured to have won a contract from Apple to make the iPhone 5, and already makes the CDMA iPhone 4. Quanta is currently involved in making Macs.
