[FONT=&quot]9to5 Mac reports that according to a DigiTimes story published today, Foxconn has managed to “persuade†Apple not to farm out a share of its iPad 3 orders, which would normally have been solely manufactured by Foxconn, to Pegatron Technology. According to DigiTimes’ sources, although Apple had recently been reported as planning to expand its iPad manufacturing base, Foxconn has successfully managed to use its influence to prevent this from happening. 9to5 Mac notes that this story, assuming it’s accurate, shows how important Foxconn has become to Apple, as usually Apple likes to have its parts and components sourced from a variety of companies, mainly so that it doesn’t become too overly reliant on one supplier, and also so that it doesn’t find itself paying over the market value to just one supplier. Not putting all its eggs in one basket, so to speak. It’s thought that this was what Apple was trying to do by moving some iPad 3 orders over to Pegatron, but if these reports are true, it now looks like that’s not going to happen, at least for now.
