According to a fresh report coming from a South Korean publication, it seems that Apple has tapped current Apple Watch plastic OLED supplier LG Display to be in charge of the panel production for a second-generation model.
The website notes that Apple originally considered partnering with multiple suppliers, but decide to choose LG as an exclusive partner thanks to the company's superior product quality and manufacturing expertise.
In order to avoid production delays, Apple prefers divide component orders between multiple suppliers. Doing so, this improves manufacturing times, but also allows the company to be flexible in the event of a bottleneck in the supply chain.
Of course, any contract made with Apple is a big win for a supplier, even if it's not involved in the production of the highly lucrative iPhone. This report could be close to reality as LG is already the current Apple Watch plastic OLED supplier, so there are big chances for Apple to continue this partnership and in the product of the Apple Watch 2.
