It looks like the forthcoming Apple Watch is about to become a genuine fashion icon with an extraordinary marketing spread in the fashion bible Vogue.
Following on from the exciting news that Apple is to hold an event to launch the Apple Watch on March 9, Fortune reports that the 12-page spread appears in the March issue of Vogue, which is, apparently, for the fashion-challenge among us, one of the most prestigious issues of the year, as it’s the month when the fashion houses launch their spring collections.
The glossy spread shows three versions of the watch—a leather-bound standard version, the rubber-banded Sport, and the gold luxury edition. There are no exact details about price, other than that it starts at $349. The luxury edition is rumoured to cost in the region of five figures.
Clearly Apple intends the Apple Watch to be as much of a high-fashion item as a utility, health, and sports item, having courted top fashion commentators for many months, even as far back as last September, when legendary Vogue editor Anna Wintour and other members of the fashion elite were given a sneak-peek preview of the watch by Jony Ive himself.
