Are the days of cellular iPads getting shorter?

I wish I'd bought my iPad 3 with cellular, if only for the GPS capability. NetTALK (wifi VoIP) worked well enough to phone ahead for room reservations on a three-week trip into Canada, with no roaming charges or other silly cellular foofaraw, but a moving map display would have been useful at times. I don't own a cellphone, BTW.

Because you would need another iDevice.
