A small arrow has appeared at the side of my power ,what is this for

That little arrow means you have "localization services" on.

I just noticed this myself when I was listening to an audio book at the gym! Didn't know that it was also to indicate that apps were using the location data in settings.

Yes--I have seen both on my iPhone, but hadn't noticed the arrow for when things are playing like music or audio books. That was the first when I was at the gym!
