best remote app to control Mac desktop

Hi, new iPad owner and lovin it.

I have a Mac Mini that I use as a music server and nothing else. It has no screen or keyboard.

I want to be able to access the desktop via my wifi network. I do not need to do it "remotely" just from within my house.

It needs to be a robust simple system. I have tried tightVNC via my windows 7 desktop with limited success.

Any suggestions?
