Bing spying on me?

I have had my Ipad for years but recently noticed some weird inconsistencies with bing search in safari. I was watching the Hangover II and wanted to find out who the tattoo artist in the movie was, I typed in "who is the tat" and the first thing which was suggested by bing was "who is the tattoo artist in the Hangover II". Just to test this we switched the channel to watch Frasier, I type in "who played d" and Bing suggested "who played Daphne on Frasier." I cannot believe that very many people are searching for these two very off topic questions that they would be brought upas suggested searches that quickly. My theory is that bing is using something like Shazam to listen to what we are watching and targeting advertising based off of that, is this crazy? Or just the biggest coincidence in the world?

Hi there,

I'm moving your thread to the New member introductions - Site assistance thread as your question is not iPad3 specific.

I'm sure you should get a response from that forum.

Wanted to know the answer to this one but can't find the moved question...

You've found it. It was placed in the "General Discussions" section rather then then the "Intro" section as Richard had stated above.

Sorry for the confusion.

Of course they are, just like Google and every other portal. The money-making product of any search engine isn't search results, it's data about you and where your eyeballs have gone. When it comes to gathering and collating information, they make the NSA look like amateurs. While the principal beneficiaries are their advertisers, once in awhile they throw us a bone to make our pathetic little lives a bit easier. ;)

I was hoping to get further discussion with this post, or hear if people had similar issues or coincidences. Roger I got it governments collect data, google collects data everyone is collecting on everyone always. What I want to know is how? Or more specifically how on the iPad and how on my iPad. Does anybody know of an app that accesses the camera and mic without specific permissions? I like many iPad users fail to read the fine print often, kinda like South Park I've probably already signed my house and kids over to Apple.

Is anybody aware of an agreement allowing Bing via safari to access the mic on the iPad?

Unless you're jail broken, the chances of the camera and microphone being hacked are slim to none. Just avoid visiting websites that may seem suspicious, like antivirus sites and pornography.

Well, I have nothing of value to contribute here (i.e. at the moment), but was interested in the statement in bold above, i.e. was there a 'prequel' version of the iPad 1 which was released in the spring of 2010? Just saying - :D

Sucks! One of the reasons I bought an iPad w/ its most effective sandboxing technology, i.e. to visit porn sites w/o fear - ;) :D

All in jest and enjoying this thread - just wanted to subscribe to see some more comments - thanks all! Dave :)

Upon rereading the question, it seems I made the assumption you were watching the shows on your iPad, while actually they were on your TV. No, I don't believe anyone is listening to your life through the iPad mic. It was either coincidence or an informed guess, because you were about to ask two of the most common questions of the day. Try asking something more obscure.
