Cannot sned/receive message on iMessage

I think FaceTime and iMessage are linked somehow. That's why I'm going down that road. FaceTime needs to be enabled and working as far as I know.

We will get to the bottom of this.

It isn't the router or network.
And with the rest of the info we have it is pretty well apparent that the issue is with this iPad. So it's just a case of digging until we find the wrong setting.

It has to be a setting that's causing the problem.

All I can think of is the Restriction setting for FaceTime right now.

Hopefully tifalock hasn't gotten bored and wandered off because we can solve this.

I think we need some screenshots of the settings page.

@kevinjs and leelai: I was using facetime before and it worked. After I read your replies, I tried it again but it doesn't work anymore. Is it because of the latest os update? Sorry for the late reply.
Well, this is a screencap of restrictions settings.

No, the update wouldn't cause this. Try closing the FaceTime App completely and see if that makes a difference.

That's your Restriction settings isn't it.....I'm thinking if you have FaceTime restricted, iMessage wouldn't work. When did you set those? Disable restrictions and see if that makes a difference.....I'm thinking it will........

Ah, I see. I already closed facetime and tried sending a message and still doesnt work. I wonder what happened to facetime. I was using it before and it was just fine. Nw it doesnt work anymore.

I've just fooled around with my Restrictions and I could still iMessage in all ways.

Could the timing be right as far as these 2 events are concerned.......try doing another restart/reset here, now that you've changed those settings again.

@kevinjs and leelai: thank you so much for your help. It worked now. I tried to look for solutions in the internet and I found post regarding my problem. I just want to share what I did. I found it here: http://appletoolbox.com/2011/10/ios-5-imessage-not-working-–-how-to-fix/

How to resolve this problem:

Turn off and on (restart) your iOS device (press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds, then slide the slider.)

If restarting doesn’t fix it:

It has been reported that changing your DNS settings fixes this issue. To change DNS servers, follow these instructions for iOS devices (iPhone, iPod touch, iPad):

Tap Settings
Tap Wi-Fi on the left-hand side
Tap the blue arrow next to your current Wi-Fi network
Tap the “DNS” field and enter the DNS servers; 8.8.8.8 (Google’s Public DNS). For more information about Google’s public DNS, please see this: http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/

Thank you so much for all your assistance. I'm glad I joined the forum. :D

Regards,
Tifalock <3
