can't see song list using music app

new to the ipad 2 - I just synced 200+songs via wired itunes. When I open the music app and tap Songs nothing shows, basically a blank screen but the control bar at the top. I can play the songs as the top bar will list on there and I tap the play arrow, but nothing in the main frame. Same when I tap Playlists, Artists, Albums etc.

Any ideas?
