Despite Apple’s statement yesterday, talk of the new iPad running too hot continues. Consumer Reports has done some tests on the new iPad, and found that not only does it run much hotter than the iPad 2, it also failed to charge when running Infinity Blade II. On running the game on the new iPad for 45 minutes, Consumer Reports found that it got as hot as 116 degrees, and that it felt “very warm but not especially uncomfortable if held for a brief period.†The report goes on to say that the hot spot was concentrated near one corner of the iPad’s display (pictured). Consumer Reports also noted that when playing Infinity Blade II, the new iPad would not charge at all, and in fact the battery even continued to drain. As MacRumors says, it seems that when the new iPad’s processor is put under pressure, the iPad can’t get enough power via the USB connection to power the iPad and charge its battery at the same time.
