Convert mkv with subtitles to ipad 1

Hello,
i've searched the internet for hours and tried about 6-7 converters (including Handbrake, sothink, aleesoft...) to achive the following thing.
I have mkv's with subtitle tracks and want them to be avaiable on my ipad. I have e.g. a video mkv file with

- Video Track
- German Audio Track
- Japanese Audio Track
- Sub Track 1
- Sub Track 2

and im just trying to get a mp4(m4v) file with exactly the same tracks.... is that even possible?
