free screen replacement?

Hi, I was reading your post about you getting a free replacement or repair from your ipad....I just run my big mower on my brand new ipad 64gbs...and thank God the leather cover helped a lot and is only cracked but it works perfectly. My question is, Did you need your receive or something when you took your ipad to an apple store? the nearest from me is in other state, and I can take it on my way one of this days (I drive every 2 months from florida to Arizona) and I was wondering what did they asked from you to get that replacement for free.
Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone,
Yesterday night while returning from the library, I accidentally dropped my ipad2 straight onto the concrete from about 4 feet. And of course, upon inspection, the screen had cracked nearly the entire length of the ipad. Also, the corner was really damaged.

So, this morning I took it to the apple store and explained exactly what happened, and the guy says "no problem, we'll replace it for free this one time". I was extremely surprised this happened, that's pretty amazing CS. So, in a few days I have to go back to the apple store to pick up the ipad.

Does anyone know if apple supplies a brand new replacement ipad2 or is at a refurbished model?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi..I just got my ipad2 about 3 months ago. I'm living in Korea due to my husband being stationed here. My daughter dropped my iPad on the ground trying to keep herself from falling out he chair. It works fine but my screen is scattered on onside and is cracking all over. I need to know how do I get the screen replaced.

Hi and welcome to the Forum!

Make an appointment with the Genius Bar at your nearest Apple Store....you will not need your receipt as they can look up all relevant info at the store. They will most probably offer to replace your iPad but for a cost...it's normally half of the original cost of the iPad. If this is fine by you, make sure you do a complete backup of your iPad before you go.

There are other businesses that can do this for you which will probably be cheaper but be aware that this will void your warranty, but then again your warranty would already be voided because of the drop. If you do replace with Apple, your warranty is reinstated. I have also heard many members who have gone the cheaper route then find that their wifi will not work as this has been damaged by the replacing of the screen.

I hope this helps you in your decision.
