Creating your own apps???

Hi, my name is Drew and I'm new to the forum but I have had my amazing ipad now for a couple of months, and I just love it!
I have been told that it's possible to create your own apps and on looking around I found this site Creating iPad Apps has anyone else tried this and if so, is it any good?
