I have connected my new wireless Cyrillic keyboard to my iPad and it works with Latin characters but how do I switch it over to the Cyrillic?

Добро пожаловать на форум!

I do not know what kind of keyboard you have, but the closest thing to a Cyrillic keyboard is the built-in Russian keyboard that you can add in the Settings menu.

Болшой привет!

Once you have added the Russian keyboard in the settings you can use command(or equivalent)+space on your Bluetooth keyboard to switch which language it outputs. I use that on the official Apple keyboard so I don't see why it wouldn't work.

Another way to change it is to bring up the on screen keyboard and click on the globe icon to change the language. Hope that helps.

That's good to know since I do not have an external keyboard... yet!

It is a great accessory to have. Whenever I am writing a long email or taking notes I pull it out and I can type much faster. Another benefit is being able to see the entire screen of the iPad when typing.

Thanks - I managed everything but didn't spot the "globe" key on the on-screen keyboard - it does not exist on the wireless keyboard. I have also now discovered where to find the "user guide" - I wish Apple would give at least some basic guidelines for people who are new to their products. Thanks to all.

The iPad User Guide can be found in several places. You can go to the Apple website and go to the Support tab. Select iPad in the Get Support section of the page then select manuals. You can also download the free iBooks app and download the iPad User Manual as a free book. Also, you can use the online version using the link in Safari. Apple has several manuals in Russian, but not yet for the iPad. There is a Russian manual for the iPod Touch which is pretty close to the iPad.

As far as getting an external keyboard, I have not decided whether to get a Bluetooth keyboard or the the camera kit so I can use a "normal" USB keyboard.

Decisions, decisions!

From what I understand a wired keyboard is not officially supported. While it will work to type it continues to give you popup messages saying it isn't supported which could get annoying.

I do have the camera kit and have found some pretty interesting uses for the USB adapter.
