Dead iPad

Hey everyone,

I have quite the problem and since people link to this site because you guys are so helpful, I decided to give it a try.

Right, the problem is, that I have an iPad, 3.2.2, Jailbroken with Limera1n and with Cydia. When I opened Cydia yesterday, I had to upgrade some important components so I upgraded them, but since then, my iPad restarted and doesn't do anything anymore. I know I could restore the whole thing, but here's the issue why I haven't done that yet... there are some important documents on there which I DO NOT want to lose. The last time I backed everything up was about two weeks ago, and since then I have made quite a few important docs, so I really hope there's a solution or at least a way to access and back up those files...

I hope you guys can help me out with this problem...

EDIT: Oh yeah, I tried soft and hard reset (The holding power and home button etc) and when I plug it in to PC is says it is in DFU mode, but the iPad screen doesn't say anything...

Try "Tiny Umbrella" and see if it will kick it out of DFU mode. "thefirmwareumbrella.blogspot.com".

Thanks for the info, but I cannot see my iPad in the left list of TinyUmbrella... I've tried plugging in the device before starting up, after starting... It just doesn't show the iPad... Any other tips for kicking the iPad out of DFU mode?

Well, one lesson learned. Don't put anything important on a portable device, PC or MAC, unless you back it up ASAP. I'm sure there is a way to get it out of DFU mode. Try posting on the forum.TiPb.com jailbreak forum. Farbod21 can help, if anyone can.

Hey Pocobear,

Thanks for all the advice, trying my luck at TiPb forum right now... Just bummed that I synced only once in two weeks and that I had to sync a few days earlier... Normally I keep stuff on my PC, but that broke down on me once when I needed the files, so I reasoned with myself to keep them on the iPad, but that doesn't seem to work out for me... Maybe old fashioned pen and paper might work? Or will the dog sort that out?
