Deleting music from iPad

How do I delete music directly from the iPad?

Holding your finger on to delete seems to work on everything EXCEPT MUSIC - so if anyone can help with this one I would be grateful. Deselecting it from iTunes does not remove it from my iPad when I sync.

I took all the music off of my iPad just by deselecting the music and syncing. So it should work.

Try a soft-reset. Close all apps then - Hold down the HOME, bottom button, and the SLEEP, top button, for about 10 seconds until the Apple icon appears. Allow it to reboot, it may take a few minutes, don't panic like I did, wait for it to reboot. Cures many weird problems on iOS devices.
