Different iOS on laptop vs. ipad 2

Should I not connect my ipad 2 with Lion (10.7) to my laptop with 10.6 (Snow Leopard)? Does this cause problems? Should I buy the 10.7 upgrade for my laptop before I connect them?

Your iPad doesn't run Lion or any other flavour of OSX.

OSX is purely for Macs, iOS is the operating system that runs on iDevices. You can connect your iPad to your Mac safely as it will work with a Mac running either Snow Leopard or Lion.

Thanks! Sorry I meant iOS 5 for the ipad not Lion. Sounds like I was mixing apples and oranges anyway (iOS versus OSX).
