Digital magazines

I have an iPad2 that I just got. I also have a couple of magazine/newsletter subs that are starting to produce digital versions. How do I work it so I can read the digital versions on my iPad? I have done several searches here with no success. Thanks in advance.

Search in the App Store to see if they have digital versions.

In some cases they have web apps. These will not show up in the App Store. Instead search the publication's site for mobile, iPad, or other references. Web apps are basically specialized web pages that you can save to your Home Screen. Some are free, some are subscription, a few come free with you pulp subscription.

Newsstand is new, so some magazines them will appear in your Newsstand folder (and you can search for them there); others will show up as stand alone apps. When looking in the App Store check the category of the app. If it does not say NewsStand (not just News), then it will not show up in the NewsStand folder. Web apps won't show up there either.

Subscription options vary, a lot, so read the descriptions closely.

With sports illustrated I just out my subscription number in the app and I download the current issue. Great format!

Well, I using the Zinio app and have 3 magazine subscriptions (PC Mag which is only online; iPhone; and one other) - now I do get a number of 'snail mail mags' but most of these seem to not offer a combination choice (i.e. get the mag 'free' as a download) - I find this irritating but quite variable w/ the publication - depending on what you may be subscribed to at the moment, I think that you will have to check each one to see what your options may be - good luck and let us know your results -

I use Zinio. You can buy both in and out of app. Lots of magazines to choose from in app but you may also purchase many foreign and Apple "restricted " magazines out of app. More choices are added weekly. You can also purchase single issues to see if you want a subscription or just for that issue. I think it's great.
