Documents To Go trouble

I am having trouble with typing into a Word document on my iPad. I have the Documents To Go app, and I am able to get into a new Word document, but for some reason I can't type in it. I am sure it's something simple that I am doing wrong, but I haven't been able to figure it out. I know how to create the document, just not how to type within it. Please help! Thanks.
