OK - so we've got SSL, you've got the server address at smtp.me.com, you've got your account name and password entered correctly, you've got authentication set to 'password'. You've not changed or re-entered the password recently, by any chance? You need to remember that the iPad, by default, sets the first letter of the first word of what it perceives to be a new sentence to upper case and, if your password has the first letter lower case, it can be easy to accidentally set it to upper case. So, if you've recently re-entered the password for whatever reason, it might be worth checking that it didn't accidentally get entered as upper case.
