Edited photos on ipad don't show up on pc?

I cropped a few photos on my ipad but when I imported them to my pc they were as before, not cropped.
Any suggestions....?

And as a newcomer to Apple none of the programs or apps make any sense to me. I have used Windows for years. This is my first foray into this OS. Must say so far I am not all that happy.

There's quite a difference between Windows and Apple, I know. I have a Windows laptop, which I barely use since I have an iPad.

Working with the iPad is easy once you're used to it. When you read the right threads in iPF, you'll certainly get a good idea which apps to use, and what's possible with your device.
