I found an answer for you! I was poking around because I've never seen the "Mark as unread" option you were using...I was dying of curiosity. Here it is:
In the specific email, there is an option on the email header for "Details" or "Hide". I bet yours is now showing "Details". Click on it...and voila, your "Mark as unread" option magically appears right near the option (along with the rest of the email header info). Click "Hide" and the option disappears.
