Email problem

I use the Gmail app for email and there's a problem sending mail with attachments.
I often try to email news articles to myself or other people, also photos, but it takes ages to arrive.
A friend just told me an email with a news article sent yesterday arrived this morning.

There's also a problem saving photos in dropbox, they go into iPad Dropbox OK but take for ever to transfer to my PC.

My connection and wifi is fine.
