Emails show up twice, but only on iPad

I'm baffled by my strange email problem. I have a personal email account that is attached to my domain (hosted by GoDaddy). It is an IMAP account. I have it set up on my iPad, iPhone and MacBook Pro (using Mail). Mail shows up fine on my MacBook and iPhone, but every email shows up TWICE on my iPad. I have spoken to both Apple and GoDaddy several times and they both say it is the fault of the other provider. All settings seem correct. This problem just started happening when I switched hosts to GoDaddy. So it SEEMS like it would be a problem with them, but when I log into their web mail, all is fine. Any ideas?!

Try deleting and re-adding the account on the iPad. Make sure the account did not get entered, created twice. This happened to a few people when the iCloud service got activated, and double emails was the prime symptom.

Another long shot is if you have an account set to import the GoDaddy account. GMail can do this.

Hi twerppoet. Thanks for replying. I took a screenshot of my iPad settings. As you can see, there is only one 'Traecy.com Email' account. Is this what you meant? I had deleted and reinstalled it already. That should have done it?? Regarding a gmail account set to import my GoDaddy account, I haven't done that. Also, I have not touched any settings on my Gmail account since switching providers. I did notice, however, that when I first open Mail on my iPad, it starts out showing one email (as it should), but immediately the WiFi circle spins above and then the duplicate email comes through. Is that significant?

So it's just the Traecy.com account that shows double emails?

Let's make absolutely sure.

If you normally use the All Inboxes try using just the inbox for Traecy.com. In Landscape mode tap the back/Mailbox button at the top of the email lists, then choose Traecy.com under the Inbox list. Or you could choose it under the Accounts list and then choose the Inbox there.

Thats all I can think of at the moment. Well, that and the usual fixes, if you haven't tried all of them yet. I'll post them below.

----------------------------
The usual fixes:

When you have problems with an app it's a good idea to clear it from RAM.

Close/Clear the app: With the problem app closed, double tap on the Home button to get the multitask bar. Tap and hold on any icon in the bar until they jiggle, then tap the minus sign on the problem app. This will remove it from RAM and insure a clean start the next time you launch the app.

If that does not work try a restart,

Restart: Hold down the power button until the power off slider appears. Slide it off. When the iPad finishes shutting down, hold down the power button again until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends you restart the iPad at least once a month.

and then a reset if that does not work.

Reset: Hold down the power and home buttons until the Apple logo appears. The iPad will reboot. This usually takes a bit longer than a restart.

Reset All Settings: Another, somewhat more drastic thing you can do is Reset All Settings. You'll find this under Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings. It won't erase any of your content, apps, or accounts; but you will have to go through most of your other settings and re-tweak them back to your liking.

Yes, that is correct, only the traecy.com account shows double. And last night my iPhone started showing double as well.
When I did what you asked, and just looked at the traecy.com email account alone, it did indeed show only one instead of double. Same for the iPhone. Not to be obtuse, but what does that mean?!

OK, so I FINALLY figured it out. When I called in and set up my GoDaddy account, the person who set up our email accounts checked a box in the 'edit' dialog that forwarded every message to my iCloud account! Not sure why they did that. And further scary that when I called them, no one knew to check that setting. It is fixed now. Thank you so much for your help.

No problem. I figured it would be something like that, or at least hoped it would be. Emails magically doubling in the same account didn't make sense.
