Endless pinging

Ipad2 current iOS . Since upgrading my iPad 'ping' annoyingly with some 'alert' or other. I have removed everything from notifications, I don't have an email service running and none of my appointments have Alerts set. I have turned the volume down as low as possible. So suggestions please. Tyia. Mike
