My experience with web forums has been a great one. There's no better way to learn about a subject than to hang out with people who know it, do it, use it, fix it, test it and sometimes just dream about it. For me, "it" has been motorsports, motorcycles, SUVs, music (drums), photography, computers and even wine sipping. The greatest benefits have been ramping up my knowledge level more quickly, improving my skills and saving money on DIY repairs.
I always try to contribute to the forums I belong to. I try not to be just a 'taker'. It may take me a while before I can contribute much to this forum, as the iPad is new to me since June of this year. I have a lot of experience with PC and web applications, browsing, networks, electronics (DVD/BluRay, GPS, smartphones, PDAs, cameras) and automation controllers. I have 10 weeks to go on my Blackberry contract and I'll most likely switch to an iPhone 5. My son has a 4S and loves it.
I'll work on My Profile, so you have an idea of who you're sharing information with, when you bail me out of problems.
Really though, the iPad experience has been a good one so far. No regrets.
