General settings side switch options

On my ipad mini, in the general settings, side switch options....if I have it on lock rotation, I have sound but of course
unable to rotate screen. However, if I take the side switch option off rotate, it goes on mute and I have no sound.
It's always on one or the other. I use rotate often and would like to have sound off mute when I do.
How can I have rotate and have sound too?

Look at the side switch. If there's red area next to it, it's enabled, and either mute or lock rotation is turned on. Toggle it to the other (to the right) side, so that you don't see the red colour any more. Then the switch will be disabled, which will allow you to have sound and rotate your iPad.
