Getting mp3 from email to garage band, cannot sync so any alternatives please?

Hello....

How would I go about getting a mp3 from drop box or email (attachment) into garage band so I can then edit it... Usually I would sync my ipad2 with my old but handy MacBook yet since ipad has updated systems it's become impossible. I am also unable to update to iTunes 11 on MacBook so the MacBook/ipad2 sync is no more! Please help thank you ...
